Spring Kirkin of the Tartan (May 5, 2019)

The Kirkin’ of the tartan is coming. All society members and friends are encouraged to come.
The Kirkin’ comes from the stories of the Act of Proscription, when the wearing of the kilt was banned inn the
Scottish Highlands. Highlanders hid pieces of tartan and brought them to the church to be secretly blessed a particular point of the service.
The St Andrew’s Society of Mid-Maryland spring Kirkin’ will be Sunday, May 5, at 10:30 at Frederick Presbyterian Church.
Come earlier and try to be there by 10:15 because parking can be4 a shortage. There are two parking garages on Patrick Street, and one
on Church Street that are fairly close.
Bring a piece of tartan to be blessed and enjoy the pipers.
If you would like to make a little short bread, it is welcome.
